FEMA IS-907: Active Shooter: What You Can Do
Take the course! You can earn credit and a certification. An active shooter is an individual actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a confined and other populated area. In most cases, active shooters use firearms and there is no pattern or method to their selection of victims. Active shooter situations are unpredictable and evolve quickly. All employees can help prevent and prepare for potential active shooter situations. This course provides guidance to individuals, including managers and employees, so that they can prepare to respond to an active shooter situation. May require sign up.
The PFB education director found this excellent three-hour video of a multi-day ADVANCED STOP THE BLEED training session. Click on the title above to watch it. The instructors are from D-Dey Response Group in Stuart, Florida. Both highly experienced combat medics and experienced firefighter/paramedics. The first two hours show and explain how to use tourniquets, pack and / or bandage wounds. The final hour is students working “live fire” drills – and is an excellent introduction to what to do in an active shooter situation. THIS VIDEO DOES NOT TAKE THE PLACE OF TAKING A STOP THE BLEED COURSE and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU CONSIDER THIS COMPANY – click here to visit their website to see when they are offering classes in your area!
